There are two types of photochromic coating: Spin coating & Dip coating. Spin coating is a pioneering technique in the manufacture of photochromic lenses, offering a range of lens options with refractive indices from 1.499 to 1.74. Dip coating involves immersing the lens in a liquid photochromic substance to apply the coating to both sides of the lens.Traditional photochromic coated lenses only have an outer surface coating, which may not provide ideal colour depth and UV protection. Dip-coated photochromic lenses use double-sided photochromic technology, resulting in deeper colour and better UV protection through complete light absorption.
